May 29-June 5, 2011

Day 1--Our flight leaves from the Salt Lake City airport at approximately 8:00 am and will be arriving in Cancun  at approximately 3:00 in the afternoon.  We will be met by our air conditioned charter bus which will transport us to the beautiful colonial city of Valladolid.  We will check into our hotel where you will have time to unpack before exploring this serene and peaceful town.   Have dinner at the hotel restaurant or you may choose to try out one of the many eating establishments nearby.  Take a short 10-15 min. stroll into the town center, check out the beautiful park and centuries old church and enjoy the atmosphere of this wonderful city.

Day 2-- Breakfast at the hotel.  We will board our bus and head to the ruins of Chichen Itza.  Chichen is one of the most excavated sites in the Mesoamerican world. You will be led by one of their knowledgeable guides who will teach us about this amazing place.  After spending time at Chichen, we will continue on to the nearby Cenote Ik-Kil,
where you will be able to experience one of the incredible phenomenons of the Yucatan.  These are fresh water pools or 'lakes' found all over the peninsula.  Here we will have a delicious buffet lunch and take a break from the summer heat with a swim in the beautiful clear water.  Next, we'll continue on to another cenote, Cenote Xkeken (also known as Dzitnup).  We will also explore the nearby Cenote Samula, just a short walk from Xkeken.  You can swim in the cenotes or just enjoy the beauty of these incredible 'caves'.  After our visit to the cenotes, we will continue on toward a typical Mayan village where we will leave clothing and gifts for the local people.  You will be able to see just how these wonderful people live and get a peek into one of their humble homes.  Finally, we will return to our hotel where  you can again enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of Valladolid and sample yet another restaurant for your evening meal!

Day 3--Breakfast at the hotel.  Today, we will pack our bags, check out of the hotel and travel to the ruins of  Ek Balam, a newly excavated Mayan city with spectacular architecture and beautiful carvings.  After spending time at Ek Balam, we will continue on to the ruins of  Tulum.  This ancient Mayan city is built on the coast of the clear blue waters of the Caribbean.  Our guides will give us a tour after which we will walk down to the beach and spend some time enjoying the ocean waves.  After we leave Tulum, we will head for the beautiful beachside resort of Playa del Carmen.   You will have time to check in to the hotel, have your hair braided or just relax in your room.  There are many restaurants in Playa del Carmen, so you will have plenty of options for dinner on your own.

Day 4--Breakfast at the hotel...  Free day to do as you'd like!  You will have time to attend a local church service if you'd like. There are several other options to explore.  You  might be to enjoy a day in Cozumel.  Catch the ferry that leaves from a nearby dock almost hourly. You could rent a car or moped to drive around the island.  There are ruins, more shopping, diving or snorkeling tours, and just beautiful scenery.  You may want to check out Chankanaab Park on the Isla Cozumel.  There are many other options from which to choose.  Let us know what you are interested in and we can help you make arrangements.  If you'd rather stay on the mainland, there are many other things to do.  You may want to go to Xel Ha  or Xcaret,  two nearby ecoparks with lots of things to do.   Let us know what your interests are and we can steer you in the right direction.   Enjoy this tropical paradise!  There are many, many restaurants for your evening meal in either Cozumel or Playa del Carmen.

Day 5- Breakfast at the hotel.   We will then check out of our hotel around 10:00 am and board the bus for an hour long ride to the  beautiful tropical paradise of Cancun.   On the way, we will stop on the coast to the quaint fishing village of Puerto Morelos where you can enjoy a delicious lunch (on your own), arrange a snorkeling tour or just enjoy the beautiful Caribbean as you laze on the beach nearby.  We will check into our hotel in Cancun where you will have the rest of the evening to do as you wish.  In the evening, you can ejoy one of many many eating establishments for dinner.

Day 6--Breakfast at the hotel.  Today we will board a ferry boat for a fun and fantastic tour to the wonderful little island of Isla Mujeres.  You will enjoy a full day on the island where you will have a choice of many activities.  You can just hang out on the beach, play sand volleyball, rent a golf cart to explore the island, shop, or take a snorkeling trip to a nearby reef.  Today is the only day where lunch will be included--a nice buffet meal at the covered pavillion, complete with local entertainment.  Finally, we will return by ferry to the hotel where you will be free to do what you'd like for the evening.

Day 7--Breakfast at the hotel.  Today is a free day for you to do what you would like.  We can help you arrange an activity of  your choice,  just laze on the beach or the pool at our hotel, or do your last minute shopping. There are many things to do in and around Cancun.  Enjoy a relaxing day.

Day 8-Unfortunately all good things must come to an end and today we must return home from our dream vacation.  Breakfast at the hotel.  You will have a little time to attend a church service, relax or do more shopping, or swimming at the hotel pool.  We will need to pack up and leave this afternoon to head for the airport.  Hopefully you have had a vacation to remember!
